“Stray Birds” is a project on which I work since about half a year. Birds fascinate me, capturing their movement is challenging and inspiring. Gulls and terns on the coast of Denmark are a great source of inspiration, but also the photographing of urban gulls in Nijmegen (The Netherlands) or a group of geese, leads to exceptional images.

A fight against the wind,
The heads bent to
Withstand the briny sea,
Their eyes wide open
On a never ending quest
One with the waves,
without fear, jumping from
wave crest to wave crest,
diving into the deepest
trough, to re-emerge
and rise to the clouds.
…The Future and the Past are idle shadows
Of thought’s eternal flight—they have no being…
Percy Bysshe Shelley – Hellas
The gulls are greedy, they do not know
That everything goes back to the sea
Once caught by the undertow
Hovering into a new day, let yourself be carried by the wind. Let go and trust the waves to bring you what you need.
