A tender embrace

A new series of black and white analog photos, made in the vicinity of the towns of Agger and Hurup Thy (north Jutland, Denmark).

These photos are made with a very old Eastman Kodak No. 2 Folding Cartridge Hawk-Eye Model B camera, manufactured more than 80 years ago, between the years 1926 and 1934.
For more info on this camera, scroll to the bottom of this page.

The camera is in a reasonable good shape, although you can see a small light leak at the bottom of some photos.

South side of Agger Tange, the dunes along the North Sea

Landscape at the south side of nature reserve Agger Tange, photo made on the first film with this camera

This first photo made with the camera, I made while walking at the south side of nature reserve Agger Tange. In the background you can see the dunes along the North Sea. The photo was made at a time late in the afternoon when the sun was hidden behind gray clouds.

Embrace the earth

When the day merges with the night,
the sky embraces the earth
and the winds lie down on the grass to rest

Landscape at the south side of nature reserve Agger Tange, photo made on the first film with this camera

This abstract landscape is made on the same spot as the photo above, at the south side of nature reserve Agger Tange.

This is an advertisement that Eastman Kodak used to promote her new camera No 2 Folding Cartridge Hawk-Eye Model B.

It was manufactured from 1926 to 1934, and it originally sold for $20 (that was the top of Kodak’s line in 1924; the next-most expensive camera they offered was only $8). That’s about $270 in 2012 dollars, so it’s not quite comparable to today’s top cameras, but technology has come a long way. I found an ad (right) that advertised the first version of this Hawkeye, probably about 10 years earlier, for $8.
