I added a new photo to the gallery ‘Lost cities‘.
I made the photo ‘Rhythms of the past’ a week ago early in the morning in the old city of my home town Nijmegen, The Netherlands.
This old part of the city of Nijmegen is called ‘Benedenstad’ (Down Town), because it is literally 5 to 10 meters below the adjacent city center. Winding streets with buildings of sometimes hundreds of years old, take you to the past.
The old facades of the houses in this district each have their own rhythm. The designers of the past were much less bound to rules than architects of this age. Each facade tells its own story.
